Tuter Rex

An Interactive 3D Math Game

T-Rex allows kids ages 7-11 to learn basic math skills up through geometry and basic algebra. It uses a 3D-motion sensing camera to allow kids to help T-Rex on his journey through the tropical island of Pythagorean. Along the way, the kid must help T-Rex solve basic math problems as T-Rex tries to find his way back to his mother. Solving the math problems and clues along the way present a problem for T-Rex, but with help from his friend, T-Rex works his way back to find mom. Using the 3D motion camera, kids don’t type in a number, they actually show T-Rex using their hands. It is no longer an EdTech on a screen, rather kids interact with the game just like they do in school - using their hands as they learn to count and solve basic math problems.

Tick Tock Toe

A 3D version of N by N by N Tic Toc Toe

Tick Tock Toe is a modern spin on a the classic game that we loved to play on loose-leafed paper. However, unlike the original Tic Tac Toe game that we all know that graced us with it’s 3 by 3 board, Tick Tock Toe will be played in a n by n style, where n is any integer that your little heart desires. Yes, Tick Tock Toe will bring a new meaning to ‘multiple ways to win.’ But wait, there’s more! This board will be located within a Time Bomb, a time bomb that is counting down until inevitable doom, unless the hero of the story manages to connect the circuit to shut off the bomb (or in this case a ‘win’).

S.S. Nemesis

A Science Fiction Visual Novel

The year is 645 A.R. (After Revolution), 645 years have passed since the ‘revolution,’ a conflict that consisted of computer warfare and information control-because of this, much of history was erased, hardly any information about the past remained-all history textbooks and recordings were destroyed causing humanity to start on a clean slate, likewise, religion slowly started to dwindle-and due to lack of resources, faded over time. Christ, Muhammad and other religious figures became non-existent. However, in the shadows one religion managed to thrive; Scientology. The world’s scientologists kept hidden and formed a secret council called the ‘4,000.’ Throughout the course of hundreds of years they worked on a plan to bring about ‘Incident III,’-a method to ‘free’ humans from their bodies and achieve their true forms, using the energy created from the ‘soul release’ to free the almighty Xenu ( a legendary alien overlord: whose existence is unknown.) However, this method is not exactly guaranteed and might just result in the extinction of humanity. Meanwhile, tensions between two of the world’s superpowers; The Britannia Union (formed from the Americas, Europe and Australia), and The Sinic Republic (formed from Russia, most of the African Continent and China) have tight tensions, and rumors of a nuclear war have been floating around leaving many people in alarm. A group of politicians, businessmen and other people in power have joined to form a group called the ‘Vantaggio Circle,’ (or just ‘The Circle’ for short) in attempt to save humanity if such events were to occur. The humanity preservation project is called “S.S. Nemesis,” named after the ‘ark’ or steam powered spaceship that will be able to save the human race. However, this project is not common knowledge, seeing that the ship itself only has enough room to carry 2000 people-a mere fragment of the earth’s population. The player fills the shoes of Charlotte, a young 15 year old girl who works part time at a resort located on a small island. One day, she notices a group of very important looking people. Little does she know that these people are ‘The Circle.’ That night, the resort is attacked by a group of the Four Thousand. The Circle is slaughtered, and Charlotte encounters one of the members during his dying moments. He tells her of “The Red Door,” and to see the “Angel” and send the message that the “Group has been compromised.” With this limited knowledge, Charlotte heads to Italy in order to pass on this so called message. From here on out, your choices determine not only Charlotte’s fate, but the fate of the world as well. S.S. Nemesis is a story about the end of the world.

Illuminaughty was created for fun at a hackathon dedicated to Terrible Ideas. The purpose behind Illuminaughty was to show the shortest link between a certain search term and the illuminaughty wikipedia page.

Classifieds

A buy and sell widget created for Waterloo's Portal

Classifieds was a buy and sell widget created for Waterloo's Student portal. Created at Waterloo's Portal Hacks, the widget allows users to search, post and view various classifieds. Filters for buying, selling and various categories exist to narrow down the ads. This widget was created in effort to combat the multiple buy and sell groups that exist for Waterloo University on facebook by providing a centralized buy and sell service that is accessible by all Waterloo students.

Water Girl

A Visual Novel based on the anime called "Free"

Water Girl is a fan otome visual novel based on the world of Free: Iwatobi Swim Club. The game follows the story of an Americian Girl on exchange to Japan. She ends up joining the school's swim club as the club's first female member. As the game progresses, you will have to make decisions that determine your outcome. The game features 6 pursurable characters and is currently in the development stage. Water Girl is being developed by a team of around 10 artists, writers, musicians, designers and programmers. I serve as one of the main programmers.

A simple spell checker created in C++ using a hash table. Words are checked against a text file or dictionary.

PickPic is a simple instagram clone created using Ruby On Rails. It allows users to sign up for an account and upload, edit, delete photos and captions.

Epo Resources

A website created for a small tax business.

Epo Resources is a small tax business located in the durham region that has been operating for over 30 years. In the past, Epo Resources has relied on word of mouth and newspaper advertisements. I created their website in order to give the business an online presence and help with business expansion and outreach.

Guardian Angel

An original comedic Visual Novel.

Guardian Angel is a joint project that follows the sassy, foul-mouthed very unangelic Angel as she finds out that her douchebag boyfriend Mark has been cheating on her. After finding out that the other girl, Victoria is unaware of the situation. Angel plots with Victoria to get revenge on Mark. The game is being brought to life by a team of three. I serve as the programmer and the UI designer.

Tonzo

The bear that cares.

Tonzo is a mental health chatbot that uses natural language processing, and sentiment analysis to determine how a user is feeling and react in an appropriate way. Tonzo will tell you jokes when you're upset, ask you about yourself when you're happy, give you coping strategies and destressing techniques when stressed and will give you a hotline to call if you show signs of need. Tonzo also allows you to learn more about resources in your area. You can ask him to help you find a counselor, psychologist or psychiatrist and he will give you their contact information. If you ask Tonzo about various mental illnesses (depression, anxiety, ptsd etc.) He will send you a link from a reliable source (such as the Canadian Mental Health Association) so you can learn more. Tonzo was created for the facebook messenger platform.

Gratitude

"The pathway to happiness is found through gratitude."

Gratitude is a chrome extension I created as a part of a New Year's Resolution to be more thankful. Many scientific studies have shown that people who practice gratitude and thankfulness tend to be more happy than those who don't. It's a simple chrome extension that allows the user to list something they're thankful for everytime a new tab is opened. The list is stored using browser local storage and the background is randomly generated.

Run With The Right Crowd

What does what you say, say about you?

Run With The Right Crowd was a hackathon project created at QHacks 2017. The idea behind Run With The Right Crowd was that a person who was new to reddit, could input what they wanted to post and the app would tell them what the best subreddit to post it in would be. We used the Reddit Dataset from kaggle, but since the dataset was too large for us to process on our local machines, we cut it down to a fraction of its original size. I used the bag of words model in order to process reddit comments, and used the Random Forest Classifer model in order to predict what comments would be associated with what subreddit and score. We used the Indico API and pygal libraries to display other metrics such as sentiment.

Map Now

Map Now is a freelance project I completed for a client as a MVP for their startup. It is a realtime, location based social networking site. Users are able to log on and view other other users online at the same time in their area. Users are able to enter a message, their name as well as optional links to various social media profiles, such as linkedin, facebook and twitter. Users are able to make their pin private and allow them to only be visibile to another user if they enter a unique ID and a password (also optional). Users are also able to change the location of their pin and it will update in real time across all users. The site creates cookies to remember user information and is able to detect links and email addresses and convert them appropriately. When a new user logs onto the website, the site will send an email notifying the administrator of the webiste.

OddJobb

Empower Yourself By Empowering Your Community

OddJobb was a mobile application created for Hack for Good 2017, a hackathon dedicated to creating an application for societal good. OddJobb allowed users to register and log into an account to create and view posts in their area. The user had the option of sorting jobs by area, allowing them to find jobs closest to them (in metres). OddJobb ended up placing second. The project consisted of a Rest API serving as the backend that allowed for interaction with the database that was created with MongoDB. The front end was created with Phonegap and Framework7. There are currently plans to create a next generation version using React Native.

Writing

While I was working at 360insights, I started writing articles for the company blog. I noticed that a lot of people didn't have a clear idea of what 360 did, so I started off my collection of articles with an article titled 'How I Figured Out What 360insights Does: The Sales Channel Made Easy.' This vastly increased traffic to the company's website and became the most viewed page (surpassing the careers page even.) A lot of people we interviewed for positions had read this article. I went on to write 3 more about The Benefits of the Online Rebate, Importance of Diversity in Tech, Why Perks Don't Equal Company Culture and From Legacy To New World, How We Are Revolutionizing Our Data Pipeline. T.Data

Connecting Data Passionate People.

T.Data is a Tech Meetup I started in downtown Toronto as an initiative for developer outreach on behalf of 360insights. I arranged the venue, catering, funding and speakers for the first T.Data meetup. The first event was sold out and featured three speakers from a variety of companies including Eric Carroll from 360insights, Shardul Baral from Shopify, and Thomas Marek from Rangle.io.
